Melissa Hurst Initiated Into Rho Theta Sigma Honor Society at NSU

Melissa Hurst of Collinsville was recently initiated into RHO THETA SIGMA. A reputable assembly of 84 students were initiated into the oldest honor society at NSU that is designed to honor students with high achievements in all disciplines. Rho Theta Sigma was established on the Tahlequah campus in the 1920s and currently possesses in excess of 5,000 members.

These Initiates, from multiple majors and diverse collegiate backgrounds, have all met the requirements of a 3.4 GPA for two full-time semesters or a 3.6 GPA for one full-time semester and a dedication to life-time membership and commitment to the organization's principles and codes. The Fall Banquet was held Thursday, November 1st in the University Center Ballroom. The speaker of the night, Mr. Jim Carlile, presented advice to the newly initiated Rho Theta Sigma members. Mr. Carlile shared his knowledge and past endeavors as both a retired FBI agent and career educator. The current officers of Rho Theta Sigma include Leslie Manes: President, Brittany Broad: Vice President, and Macy Hudson: Secretary. There were also three $100.00 scholarships awarded to three initiates which included, Lindsay Lofton, Linda Marie Cook, and Phyllis McElroy. Sponsors Dr. Craig Clifford, Mr. Kin Thompson, Dr. Sally Armstrong and Dr. Martha Parrott were in attendance.
